World in Motion. Narrations, Migration and the Media

von Christina Schachtner

A world that threatens to become alien because it has become a different world urges us to tell stories. In the act of storytelling, what is experienced acquires meaning, which facilitates understanding and makes one capable of action. The narrations with which the narrators weave together their image of the world and themselves are rooted in this world, in a historical world (Schapp 2004, 91). They draw from this historical world and they create history, they draw from the self and they create the self.
