Written examinations (written tests) usually last 90-120 minutes. The permitted aids include the lecture notes (including handwritten notes), as well as corresponding documents for the exercises. The typical 5-6 exercises are aimed at drawing conclusions from lecture results and applying them to concrete examples. The last exercise consists of 5 or 10 statements, for which a cross must be placed to decide whether they are true or false. Each correctly placed cross is awarded 0.5 points (for 10 statements) or one point (for 5 tasks). With a correct argument or a counterexample the same number of points is added. In case of wrong arguments, points for the possibly correct cross will be deleted again.

50% of the maximum achievable points are sufficient to pass the exam. 1-5 bonus points can be achieved by suggestions for improvement of the script. For linguistic hints 0.5 point each, for errors in mathematical expressions 1 point each will be awarded. However, the total number cannot exceed 5 points.

Written exams

Oral examinations last about 45 minutes. In addition to the person being examined, a further person is present who takes the minutes. The questions relate to the reproduction and understanding of the lecture content. If desired, the examinee can prepare a specific topic from the lecture and present it for the first 10 minutes (with pen on paper). In this case, interventions are usually only made in the case of incorrect or incomprehensible statements.

Oral exams

Bachelor theses are assigned in the areas of analysis, complex analysis, functional analysis, differential and difference equations, or numerical mathematics. Specific topics can be found on the bulletin board next to my office or in a personal meeting.

Prerequisite is the successful participation in two courses (no basic lectures) with me.

Bachelor theses

Master theses from dynamical systems and related subjects (from basics from functional analysis, modeling, to numerics) are assigned. Specific topics can be found on the bulletin board next to my office or in a personal meeting.

Prerequisite is the successful participation in two courses (no basic lectures) with me.
